2020 Camp Update

Dear Families of the 2020 Diller Home Campers:
Over the last 50 years, the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children has
provided safe, memorable and truly special experiences for each of its campers
in Avalon, New Jersey. The 7 Mile Island community, camp counselors and staff,
generous benefactors and dedicated board members are passionate about this
organization. We all work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure a great week of fun
for our 160 campers.

Priority one for our campers and their families is providing a free of charge
vacation in a safe residential setting. Because of the global pandemic, it is with heavy
hearts we announce that our 2020 summer camp season has been cancelled. We
simply cannot guarantee the health and safety of your children this season because of
the virus.

We are hoping and expecting that great medical strides will be made over the
coming year to address the virus head on. If so, campers who are enrolled in our 2020
season will automatically be guaranteed a spot (same week, unless requested) in 2021
(even if the camper would have aged out this summer.)

We will provide camp connections throughout the summer for all campers to
participate in (virtually). This initiative is in the works so more information will be

I never thought in the 12 years I have been a part of this organization, I would
have to send a message like this. I will miss your children tremendously this summer.
Camp may be cancelled, but our connections with our campers will not be. Our 2020
staff looks forward to seeing our campers soon. Be well.

With Love,
Emily O'Donnell
Camp Director
